It is located beside the
river Poshur at the Chadpai range of Sundarban.
At the North side of Bay of Bengal.
Information About Harbaria(Sundarban,Bangladesh):
Ø Climate subtropical.
Temperature changes from 20 degree C in Dec-Jan to 28 degree C in Jun-July
Ø The annual rainfall is average between
65-70cm.
Ø During ebbtide the forest becomes bear by
6-7 ft & at high tide (30miles per hr) the entire territory of the forest
floats on water.
Soil
pattern of Harbaria:

Three
types of soil: Clay soil, Heavy soil, Silty soil
Salinity of soil up to 8PPT.
Fertile soil owing to continuous silt deposit.
How
to get there:
Ø From anywhere to Khulna launch ghat,
Khulna.
Ø We can hire a launch & go to Mongla
port.
Ø From Mongla port it takes 2-3hrs to reach
herbaria ecotourism center by engine boat or hired launch.
Where to stay :
Ø 3
rest houses of Mongla
port authority are available where tourist can plan their stay.
Ø However, prior booking is required, but
it is also possible to stay in launch at night.
Biodiversity of harbaria:
Two major
components of biodiversity are:

Flora

Fauna
Flora:
Ø Sundari
(Heritiera fomes) the major flora.
Other flora are: Golpata, Segun, Korai, Passur, Keura, Geuwa, Goran,
Hental, Amur, Singra etc.
High salinity of soil intends to create bayonet like roots of flora.
Fauna:
Ø Spotted deer, rhesus monkey, Estuarine
crocodile, Honey bees are major fauna.
Others fauna are Python, Brown owl, Heron, Wild boar, Kite, Royal Bengal Tiger,
Fishing cat, gray mongooses, Kingfisher etc.
